Facebook acquires data analytics startup CrowdTangle used by media giants

Facebook acquires CrowdTangle for an undisclosed amount. The startup is used by media agencies like Buzzfeed, Vox, CollegeHumor etc. and non-profit organisations like unicef, greenpeace, 350.org to discover trending content across web.
CrowdTangle uses data from social media platforms like facebook, instagram, twitter and youtube to generate insights about trending content acroos the web and provide services like content discovery, competitive analysis, social performance measurement and other data and insights to its customers.
Previously, CrowdTangle had raised $2.2 million in funding from investors like Betaworks and Advancit Capital and now with full support and resources from facebook they plan to innovate and enhance the product to provide better services.
